Courtenay Allan

Courtenay Allan was killed as a result of an incident on board the container ship OOCL Montreal where he mysteriously fell down a lift shaft on the 3rd July 2003.

It is now five years since Senior Orient Overseas Container Line director Courtenay Allan was killed in this incident on board the OOCL Montreal in the port of Le Havre.

Official investigations in France are still ongoing and the family of Courtenay Allan are appealing for further information which could shed more light on circumstances surrounding the incident. The various parties directly involved in the incident continue to

obstruct the truth being revealed which sadly contradicts the public statements of feeling and sorrow for Courtenay.

Courtenay's sons remain resolute in their determination to bring those responsible to account and five years on are still actively working on investigations. In December 2006 the three sons flew to Hong Kong to meet with relevant parties including HK government departments as there has been a lack of investigation on their part.

Since July 2007 there have been new police investigations taking place around the world to get to the truth. Courtenay's sons believe that this was not an 'accident where no technical fault could be found'. Leading lift experts in the field agree that this legal and technical impass that has been pushed by interested parties is not plausible.

OOCL Montreal

The family would welcome additional sources that were on board the vessel OOCL Montreal over the 2nd/3rd July 2003 or other sources in the shipping industry to come forward. Information will be handled on a confidential basis.

FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY UPDATE

In 2008 there has been further investigations into the case with concerns around what actually happened voiced by various parties close to the incident and the company. Despite OOCL's continuing refusal to properly answer key questions the family and experts have made significant progress this year in establishing the true facts behind what happened.

Over the past two years an investigating magistrate has been conducting a criminal enquiry in France and a full inquest in the UK is expected to be held following the result of that case. After a five year battle the family believe they are very close to achieving their aim of justice and accountability.
